Mysterious murder remains unsolved

Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s help gathering any information in the murder of a Lee County woman whose body was dumped alongside I-75 in early August.

The lifeless body of Penny Seevers (DOB 1/18/71) was found on Tuesday, August 5th near the southbound lanes of I-75, just south of Colonial Boulevard.  Her death has been determined to be a homicide, however to this point, detectives have received very little information in determining who took her life.  Seevers’ family lives out of state, and frequently reaches out to detectives for answers, in hopes for closure.

“We’re hoping that someone who may have seen Ms. Seevers in the early morning hours of August 5th or even the late evening hours of August 4th will come forward and help detectives piece together the puzzle of what led up to her death,” said Trish Routte, Crime Stoppers Coordinator.  “Her siblings and cousins are having a difficult time understanding who, or why, someone would senselessly take the life of a family member they loved.  We’re hoping that someone out there will be able to provide the family the answers they so desperately seek this holiday season.”

Anyone with information on the murder of Penny Seevers is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477).  All callers will remain anonymous and will be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.  Tips may also be made online at www.swflcrimestoppers.org or by texting a tip to CRIMES (274637) Keyword: REWARD
